What happens after I receive an IRS notice?+
Read it carefully and record the response deadline. Most notices are informational; some (CP504, LT11, Letter 1058) signal enforcement is close. Send us the notice, and we will pull transcripts, confirm the underlying facts, and explain the realistic responses before anything is sent to the IRS.
What if I have unfiled tax returns?+
Nothing meaningful can be negotiated until your filings are current. We prioritize identifying the years at risk, reconstructing income and deductions from transcripts and records, and preparing defensible returns before pursuing a resolution.
What is an offer in compromise, and do I qualify?+
An Offer in Compromise settles a tax debt for less than the full amount owed. The IRS calculates a Reasonable Collection Potential based on your assets and future income. Eligibility depends on the numbers — not on marketing. We qualify or disqualify your case before we recommend submission.
How does payroll-tax collection work?+
Unpaid payroll taxes include a trust-fund portion (income tax and the employee share of FICA) for which owners, officers, and other responsible parties can be held personally liable via the Trust Fund Recovery Penalty. Collection can move quickly. Stabilizing current-period deposits is always the first step.
What is a Tax Account Analysis?+
A structured review of your account transcripts, filing compliance, assessments, collection status, prior agreements, and financial information — the foundation for any defensible resolution strategy.
What should a business do after resolution?+
Install the systems that prevent recurrence: disciplined filing, right-sized estimated payments, payroll deposit controls, clean bookkeeping, and periodic tax planning. Resolution without prevention is temporary.
When is FIRPTA withholding required?+
When a foreign person disposes of a U.S. real property interest, buyers are generally required to withhold a percentage of the amount realized. Withholding certificates can reduce the amount when the actual tax will be lower. Timing and documentation are strict.
